Tufts Health Plan Foundation

In 1997, Tufts Health Plan created the Community Partnerships program to promote the health and well-being of communities throughout Massachusetts by providing support consistent with Tufts Health Plan's vision, values and commitment to improving the health of the general population beyond our membership. Since its inception, the Community Partnerships program has helped to improve the lives of Massachusetts citizens through a number of multi-year initiatives and program grants to non-profit organizations.

To better support the communities we serve, Tufts Health Plan launched the Tufts Health Plan Foundation in 2008. The Foundation's mission is to promote healthy lifestyles and the delivery of quality health care in our communities. The Foundation's focus in 2008 will be on:

Disparities - Programs that address the delivery of high quality and culturally competent health care to all individuals, regardless of race or ethnicity, focusing on educating both the provider and patient.
Nursing faculty education - Programs designed to increase the number of qualified, advanced degree nurse educators to teach nursing students. Please see information about the Tufts Health Plan Nurse Scholars Program.
Health consumer education - Programs that will provide resources to consumers to help them evaluate the quality and cost of health care (health literacy), how to navigate the health care system, and healthy lifestyle alternatives.
